Dog Training

  • by

Hunting, camping, going to the soccer game, going for a run, these are all activities that dogs love to do, but they must behave in a manner that makes the experience enjoyable for the owner as well as the dog.  Training a dog is no different than practicing for a sport, done consistently and over time, the effort put forth will be shown by the results.

Much like sports, a well trained family pet is something you can figure out on your own, but often it’s best to find someone that can help you along the way.  A few hours with a good dog trainer can often put you on a path with your pet that you can take from there.  Here are a few suggestions, if you would like more help, feel free to get in touch with us using the contact page.

Collar – the simple choke collar is best for training, take it off when you are done, never leave it on.

Pop – when your dog does something you don’t like, give a small short pop to the leash and choke collar.

Commands – use the same command each time for each order, keep track of them, don’t mix them up.

Vocabulary – a command for everything, you will be amazed at how many they can learn.

No – stop saying no, use a command to augment behavior, NO is reserved for really bad things.

Pull – don’t let your dog pull you, ever, nope, sorry, not ever.

Take – your dog everywhere, if you want them to behave in public, they must get use to it.

Kennel – purchase a kennel and use it for the life of your dog, never remove it.
