You went running? Why, was someone chasing you?…. One of the favorite non runner jokes. If you want to stay in shape, don’t have much time, and have a dog that needs exercise, running is the ticket. Below are items for your get into and stay in shape with running.
Doc – talk to yours before you set out to run 10 miles one August day at 3 PM.
Shoes – get a good pair, not cheap, New Balance, Brooks, brands and models that are not for style.
Slow – 10 minute miles will get the job done, if you have to stop and walk, you were running too fast.
Heart – pay attention, take your pulse, know your standing rate, stop if something is off.
Hydrate – if your pee is yellow, you are not hydrated, should be clear before you run.
Hungry – exercise when you are close to your next meal, not just after a Capital Grille prime rib.
Time – it takes around an hour, 40 minutes to run, 10 to walk and stretch, 10 to cool down.
Distance – pay it no never mind, 40 minutes.
Fun – make it fun, track, trails, road, dog, friends, club, whatever works.
Race – if you don’t like to race, don’t race, if it motivates and makes it enjoyable, race.
Repeat – most run every other day, take an extra day if needed, get in a groove.
Burn – don’t burn yourself out, not every day, M-W-F or T-Th-Sa is plenty.
Temp – over 80 is generally to hot, run early or late, heat is hard on you.
Years – to enjoy exercise, running or other activities, you will get get love it, but it takes time.
